Building the Blue Legacy Jacket Program
The blue corduroy jacket was adopted as a part of FFA official dress in 1933. Since this time, it has been a piece of pride within our organization and is recognized nationwide. Official dress was developed to help our students as they learn to be professional leaders in their future careers. FFA members are constantly making first impressions with community members, business people, and sponsors. First impressions are lasting impressions and the FFA jacket portrays a professional and memorable experience with the people FFA members come in contact with who may or may not be familiar with the organization. It is also required for members to wear a jacket during official competitions and events. Not only is a jacket beneficial to students during their time of active membership, but they will also have it to cherish the irreplaceable memories made in the jacket.
Building the Blue Legacy is a new program organized by the North Carolina FFA State Officers to provide FFA jackets for members that would be unable to obtain one otherwise. The officer team has set a goal to provide jackets for at least 50 members for the inaugural year. All jacket recipients will be chosen at large, meaning from the entire state membership. FFA advisors will be asked to identify well-deserving students and submit an application to be reviewed by a selection committee to select recipients. Nominations are due May 1, 2015. We are positive that we can accomplish and even surpass our goal with your support.
The donation slip gives a few options for donations. You can select a designated amount or write in the amount you would be willing to donate to the Building the Blue Legacy program. The FFA members who are selected will be presented with their new jacket in Raleigh at the North Carolina State FFA Convention in June.
The North Carolina FFA State Officers would like to thank you in advance for your support to the Building the Blue Legacy jacket program.
