MEMORANDUM

TO: Advisors of FFA Poultry Judging Teams

FROM: Jason Davis, State FFA Coordinator

SUBJECT: 2012 State FFA Poultry Judging Career Development Event

The 2012 State FFA Poultry Judging Career Development Event will be held on March 15, 2013 at the NC State University Poultry Unit located on Lake Wheeler Road.  The event will start at 9:30 am.  A map from campus to the facility can be located at: http://www2.ncsu.edu/unity/lockers/project/po420/large_map.htm.

A maximum of four participants will be allowed to participate. There is NOT a junior division.  Only bring those students who will be on your team.  This event will follow the guidelines set forth in the Chapter Guide to State FFA Activities.  Please review the chapter guide for contest rules and procedures.  The test topic this year will come from the following units of the Poultry Science Manual for National Career Development Events.

Chapters : C13-36 Anatomy & Physiology of the Fowl
          C122-130 Market Turkey Management

Please register your team members via http://www.judgingcard.com no later than March 8, 2013.  We will in addition to the scan form utilize the cards located in the chapter guide for the keep/cull portion of the event, oral reasons, and the chicken parts identification (only the chicken parts on the NC card will be used, please disregard that section on the scan form).

To register, chapters should follow these instructions:
1) Go to www.JudgingCard.com.
2) Click "Sign In" and enter a username and password.
3) Click "Update My Info" to add teachers and email addresses to the account.
4) Click "Event Registration & Information", move the calendar to
March, and click the March 15th event.
5) Register for the event.

JudgingCard accounts have been created for every FFA Chapter in North Carolina.  To sign in, the username is 'NC' followed by their 4-digit chapter number: "NC0001", for example.  The password has been preset to the same thing, with a capital "NC."

  Students will be provided clipboards and scan sheets. Students should bring two sharpened number two pencils.  Students may not bring or use any additional tools, learning devices or equipment.  In addition no cell phones, Ipods, PDA’s or electronic devices will be allowed at the event.

Advisors of students with special needs should notify the state office before the registration deadline of March 8, 2013.
