Byrd Wins First Place in High Country Federation Tractor Driving CDE

On Tuesday, September 14, 2015  the High Country FFA Federation held the Truck and Tractor Driving CDE at the Burke County Fairgrounds.   EJ Byrd from Avery County FFA won 1st place in the Tractor Driving Division and will advance to the state competition in February 2016 at the NC State Fairgrounds.   Hunter Huffman from Avery FFA placed 2nd in the Tractor Driving and Luke Burleson (Freedom FFA) placed 3rd. 

In the Truck Driving CDE, Kirby Ferris (Freedom FFA) placed 1st and will advance to the state competition in February 2016. Avery FFA member EJ Byrd placed 2nd and Avery FFA member Alex Clark placed 3rd.   Mountaineer Equipment (Chuck Poore) of Pineola, NC donated the John Deere Tractor for the CDE and Tractor Supply of Morganton, NC donated the trailer.   Many thanks to these businesses for their support of the FFA.  

Freedom FFA provided a hotdog supper for the FFA members after the CDE Event.  Burke County Fairgrounds allowed the use of their property for the event.  Congratulations to the FFA members!
